🏛 About Politeknik Ungku Omar (PUO)
Ungku Omar Polytechnic (PUO) is the first polytechnic established by Department of Polytechnic and Community College (JPPKK) founded in 1969.
- Abbreviation: PUO
- Location: Jalan Raja Musa Mahadi, Ipoh, Perak.
- Geographical Location: Just 10 minutes away from Sultan Azlan Shah Airport.
- Campus Vibe: The main campus has a classic "school-like" feel, primarily consisting of 4-story buildings.
- Expansion: A new branch campus recently opened in Bercham (January 2025).
- The earliest established polytechnic in Malaysia.

B-U-S:
There are two types of buses here.
The first one is the **pink-coloured Bas My bus**. This bus will pass by the bus stop opposite our old hostel. It only operates within Ipoh, and the farthest destinations are usually places like **Kampar** or **Chemor**. Its main terminal is **Medan Kidd**. From Medan Kidd, you can walk for about **10 minutes** to reach the train station.
The other type of bus is the **interstate bus**, which operates from **Terminal Amanjaya**. It is not the same place as Medan Kidd. Buses from this terminal are mainly for travelling to other states.
For long-distance destinations such as **Johor Bahru (JB), Kuala Lumpur (KL), Kuantan, Penang**, and other places, the buses depart from **Terminal Amanjaya**.
In simple terms:
* **Long-distance buses:** Terminal Amanjaya
* **Short-distance / city buses:** Medan Kidd
All of these places have this bus service.

To get this card, you need to pay RM10. Once you have this card, you can ride the pink-coloured buses for free.
If you do not have this card, you will need to pay the bus fare when using the bus. However, as students, we are eligible to apply for this card. After getting the card, we can take the buses for free.
To apply for the card at the main terminal, prepare the following documents:

PUO → Bachang: approximately 10 minutes by bus.
The new PUO campus is located in Bercham.
(The service is only provided for JP students, and starting from the next semester, it will only be available for Semester 1 and Semester 2 students.)
The fee is RM100 per semester.
The Bercham campus was opened on 11/1/2025.
Each classroom has approximately four air conditioners.

Introduction:
A senior from PUO, a Diploma in Electrical Engineering graduate, who continued his studies at UTM in Electronic Engineering.
Credit Transfer Experience:
In the first semester, students should initially follow the timetable provided by the faculty and register for courses according to the schedule.
The faculty is aware that diploma graduates need to apply for credit transfer, and they will guide students on how to submit the application through the student portal.
After that, the faculty will provide a list showing which courses are available for replacement in Year 2 Semester 1.

Usually, contacting the Academic Advisor (AA) and the faculty is enough. The most important thing is to prepare the diploma course information.
Important Notes:
Credit transfer is not necessarily a one-to-one course replacement.
For example, several diploma courses can be used to apply for exemption from one degree course.
For subjects like “Introduction to XXX”, it is recommended to apply for credit transfer if possible. Students can provide documents such as:
